Obituary of Murray Harris

Murray was born May 12, 1965 in Dawson Creek, BC. Murray was dealt a tough hand early on in his life but managed to get through life with perseverance and a lot of luck. Murray was, frozen, burnt, hung, run over, nearly drown almost every time he went swimming. He fell off a building not once but twice, fell off a Tarzan swing, fell off just about every horse he ever rode, broke both his arms, broke his leg, broke his shoulder and broke just about everything he ever touched. Murray came out on the losing end of a fight with a barbed wire fence, almost got crushed by a table full of watermelons and even got chewed on by a muskrat. But you would hardly ever hear him complain. Murray's love of cards and coffee developed early in life. He spent a lot of time at grandma and grandpa Harris' where, at the age of 5, Grandma Harris taught him how to play crib and he spent hours sitting on his grandpa's knee watching hockey and drinking coffee. Murray learned about camping from his Uncle Ben and Aunty Catherine who he went camping with on many occasions. Murray had a wonderful sense of humour right from a young age. When he was about 3 years old, him and mom and dad were visiting at Uncle Wallace and Aunt Susie's, mom looked out the window and saw dad's truck headed across the yard with Murray behind the wheel. Uncle Wallace chased down the truck and managed to get it stopped before too much damage was done. When Murray came into the house all he wanted to know was "did I make dust mom?" When Murray was about 4 years old, mom couldn't find him. She looked and looked and called and called for him. After some time she found him playing in a piling hole. When mom asked him why he didn't answer her he said he heard her but didn't recognize her voice. As Murray got older he decided that the farm wasn't where he wanted to be and so became a professional hitchhiker. Mom would get up in the morning and Murray would be gone. When Murray was 18 he took a small engine repair course at Fairview College where he developed his passion for taking things apart. Unfortunately he got a dishonourable discharge before he got the chance to learn how to put things back together. Murray was kind, funny, caring and compassionate. He was deeply loved by both his immediate and extended family. Farewell Moose till we meet again.. A Celebration of his life was held on September 15, 2009 at 2:00 pm from Reynars Funeral Chapel. Bev Dunsmore officiated, interment will be held at a later date.
