Obituary of Joe John Shutty
Joe John Shutty was born on July 1, 1930 to John and Mary Shutty in Shutty Bench, B.C. He passed away on September 5, 2009 in Chetwynd, B.C. at the age of 79 years.
Joe was educated in both Shutty bench and Kalso, B.C. He met his soul mate, Mildred Mary Kaupp from New Dayton Alberta in Kaslo in 1951 and they were married in 1953.
Joe drove freight truck for Kaslo Motor Transport until 1956 when they moved to Salmo, B.C. where he worked for his brother in law Bob Rotter.
In 1961, they moved back to Kaslo again and worked for Kalso Motor Transport. In 1966 he started working for the Liquor Control Board in Nelson, B.C. then Golden, B.C. and ended up in Hudson's Hope, B.C. where he retired in 1988. After retiring they spent 3 years in Victoria, returned to Hudson's Hope then settled in Chetwynd in 1996.
Joe loved camping, fly fishing, and being around people. He was kind, gentle and had a contagious laugh. He will always be remembered for his smile.
He is survived by his loving wife Mildred of 56 years, 3 sons; John (Luanne), Myron (Jane), Jared (Claire), 2 daughters, Josephine (Eric Stanley) Melissa (Clint Millsap), 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, sister Mary Rotter and Betty Isaacs and many nieces and nephews.
With respect to Joe's wishes, Joe was laid to rest on Monday, September 14, 2009 at 11:00 am with his Mother and Father in the Kaslo Cemetery, Kaslo, B.C.
