Obituary of Gary Wayne Moore

Born April 11, 1942, 3rdchild of Howard & Clara Moore. He grew up at Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan..which is where he attended school until he quit when he decided he'd had all the education He needed. In 1958, at the age of 16 he moved with his family to "Little Prairie". Gary met Audrey McQueen, daughter of the local Head Forest Ranger. She became his lifetime love and they married in 1964. They eventually became proud parents of two daughters "Vicki" and "Allison". His marriage to the Forest Ranger's daughter had secured him a job of delivering supplies to forest fires. This turned into the beginning of his trucking career. He drove truck for Chetwynd Petroleum's, Frankie's Construction and Harry Hansen & Associates. It was while he was hauling logs in the "Old Pumpkin" for Harry that Gary got the urge to own his own truck. In 1978 he bought his first Kenworth which he immediately dubbed "Kenny" and hauled logs for Jimmy J-Kor, Youngs, Plourde and Load Em Up Contracting. He eventually sold off the log rigging and wrapped up his owner operator trucking days hauling gravel for Chetwynd Redi Mix and other local contractors. During his leisure time, Gary enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. His annual goose hunting trips to Saskatchewan were something he always looked forward to and he also loved to play cards. Gary also took pleasure in teasing his grandkids, nieces, nephews and any little kids that he could entice into "Getting caught in the Trap" to make them suffer while he sang his famous "do-dah" song to them. In 2004 Gary was diagnosed with dementia. Audrey was always grateful to their many friends who helped Gary and Kenny to find their way home. In September of 2008 Gary moved to Rotary Manor in Dawson Creek. He passed away at 10:55 a.m. on Christmas Day, December 25, 2009.The family that he loved and lived his life for was at his side. His strong character and determination to meet life head on had given him a unique personality that will be fondly remembered by all of us!
