Obituary of Lola Wall

Lola was a long time resident of Dawson Creek, B.C. Through her life, she lived in various places in B.C. and Alberta, returning to her home in the Peace, which is where we are laying her to rest. Lola Elizabeth Ann Wall, born in Fort St. John, B.C. on July 1, 1934, was the first of four children born to Claude and Maggie Driver. Lola held a very special place in all our hearts and had a strong determination to help everyone whose path she crossed. Lola was known for her extensive volunteer work with many organizations, some of which included the Royal Canadian Legion, Royal Purple, CWL, Dawson Creek District Hospital Foundation, Native Housing, NENAS, Dawson Creek Aboriginal Family Resources Society and the Bingo Association. Lola graduated from Notre Dame Business College in 1951. She had a long and gratifying career, which began at McLevin Brothers and included many businesses such as Quality Warehousing, Northland Machine and Nawican Friendship Centre. Lola also volunteered innumerable hours as a volunteer tax preparer with Revenue Canada, doing hundreds, if not thousands, of tax returns for people in the area. Lola held many executive positions with organizations over the years, some of which included Honorary Treasurer, Honored Royal Lady, Secretary-Treasurer and of course bookkeeper. Lola aspired to convey the message that we are all equal, and regardless of our heritage and beliefs, we are all children of the Creator and deserve our place on Mother Earth. We should all walk hand in hand together as one. Lola's final and most caring contribution to life was the unselfish donation of her parents' homestead in Dawson Creek to build a home for the elderly, the "DRIVER HOUSE." With the undying hard work of her dear friend, Sheila Hanshaw, along with Native Housing and Douglas Cardinal Architects, this dream and endeavor has come to reality. Lola was predeceased by her father, Claude Driver, mother Margaret Driver, brothers Jim and Angus Driver, John Wall, Rod Bell, partner Tony Rietzler, niece Marianne Teed and great grandson Marshall Mercer. Lola is survived by sister, Doris (Joe) Barabas of Redcliffe, Alberta, brother Gordon Driver of Kingman, Arizona, son Mike (Gwen Wall), daughters Marion (Erik) Terkilsen, Marg Lavay, brother-in-law Bill Wall, her grandchildren Brandi (Victor), Shari (Shane), Lauren, Jocelyn, Kevin (Jamie) and Christina(Reece), great grandchildren Mackenzie, Morgan, Glen, Mercedes, Gabrielle, Tehya, Jerod and Natalia, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
