Obituary of Joshua Lavallee
May 11th, 1992, Nicole Lavallee and Daren Thompson brought Joshua Wade Lavallee into their lives.
Josh and his family moved to Fort St James. His love for bikes all started there. They lived in a town house with a basement which turned out to be Joshua's personal racetrack. This was at the age to two!
Even as a toddler, one could see that Josh marched to his own beat. He was free spirited and fun loving. Josh had such determination to perfect everything that he did. He loved to share his artistic talents with everyone, always showing such patience and understanding. Joshua loved to joke and play. He always sided with those who had difficulty or who needed help.
Josh had the moves. He could be seen dancing, flipping, or doing tricks that would take your breath away. He was a magnet in social situations and activities. He loved to pose, so photogenic with his pink bike to his vibrant shirts and ties.
Josh had an immense devotion to the Chetwynd Youth Skate Group. He dedicated many hours to fundraising and assisting in the design and flow of the skate park. His goal was to have the best skate park here in Chetwynd.
Joshua always said he was going to be famous and star in television commercials. Well he may not have made a television commercial but he got on utube many times.
Joshua had difficulty choosing a career path to follow. He tried labouring and the food industry. He enjoyed very much the many hours that were spent with his mentor Grandpa Clark learning to wire a house and encouraging the integrity and honour this young man had already possessed. Family and friends were so important to Josh. He was always willing to help fix a bike, even if it was building one from the scrap pile.
Last summer after many hours of practice, Joshua mastered "grinding the rail" at the BC Hydro Office. As the doctor was sewing his knee up Josh looked up and said, "If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space". The doctor had to stop stitching, as he was laughing so hard. Needless to say, that was not the first or the last time the doctor had to stitch him up.
Those who have been graced by his presence will always remember Joshua.
Joshua is survived by his mother Nicole Lavallee; stepfather Vinnie Bratt; sister Sarah and the Lavallee family; his father Darren (Kim) Thompson and the Thompson family.
