Obituary of Dennis Harry Lowery
Dennis was born on March 9, 1947 in Dawson Creek, BC the 2nd child of Pansy & Harry Lowery, a younger brother to Faith and an older brother to Jim & Evelyn. Dennis' childhood years were spent on the family farm in East Doe River. At the young age of 16 Dennis left home to get a job. His first job was at a sawmill in Wonowon. He went on to cat skinning; clearing brush, piling & breaking to road building and working in the Arctic.
Dennis then moved on to the Trucking Industry where he worked for others and owned his own truck. He spent many years hauling gravel, logging, hauling on the highway and working in the oil patch.
His experience in the trucking industry then led him to be a driver training instructor at the Northern Lights College in Dawson Creek and Prince George and later drawing up safety programs for companies.
Throughout the early years while he was cat skinning and trucking Dennis had two Sons Gary & Craig and daughter Kris. He was also blessed with 4 Grandchildren Miriam, Ariel, Tanner and Reede whom he was very proud of.
Dennis loved to hunt and fish and spent ample time out on trips with his riverboat in the wilderness areas of Northern BC. His familiarity with the outdoors led him to be a hunting guide. He was able to do a job he loved and made hunters happy with many successful hunts.
Dennis also enjoyed cooking and gardening and many times would be sharing a favourite recipe with someone. His flower and vegetable gardens were plentiful and a sight to behold. In 2002 Dennis met Sylvia and during his semi-retirement years they travelled to many places on vacation or hunting and fishing trips. In 2009 they made a trip across Canada to visit Sylvia's native province of Newfoundland which he enjoyed immensely especially the ice bergs.
Most recently they spent 2 days out on the Pacific Ocean near Prince Rupert fishing for salmon and halibut.
Dennis leaves many memories with his special lady Sylvia with whom he shared a mutual love and all their family and friends.
Dennis was predeceased by his father Harry in 1990 and his mother Pansy in 2010.
Dennis passed away on August 8, 2010 at the age of 63 years. A memorial service was held on Monday, August 16, at 1:00 pm at Reynars Funeral Chapel, Pauline Haycock officiated, interment will be at a later date.
