Obituary of Leonard Morton

Leonard Morton, a lifelong resident of Dawson Creek, BC was born on Saturday, December 13, 1942 in Pouce Coupe, BC. He was the fifth child born to Ralph and Margaret Morton. Leonard attended school in Dawson Creek, although school was not his favourite thing. In Leonard's younger years he was a member of 4H Club, and also enjoyed playing hockey. Leonard worked at several different jobs: cleaning elevators, hired hand for different farmers in the region, he worked for the BC Forestry but most of his working years were spent on his farm where he raised cattle and horses. Leonard was a very unique person and wanted to live very simply. He had a temper and was very vocal about what he thought, but he also had a softer side. He enjoyed the company of family and friends when they dropped in to visit and he really enjoyed it when they brought some food along. Leonard loved to hear a story or make up one and pass it along. One humorous story was when his nieces and nephews were small and they would come to visit he gave them all a horse, but later when they got together and proudly announced that Uncle Leonard had given them a horse it came to light he gave them all the same horse. Another fond memory for the kids was the sleigh rides at Christmas. Leonard had a soft spot in his heart for children and always wanted to give them money so they could buy lunch or a treat. Leonard was a son, brother, uncle and a friend to many. Leonard passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 in the Dawson Creek Hospital at the age of 68 years. His family will sadly miss him as with his passing it seems to be an end of an era. He will also be missed by his many friends and neighbours. Leonard was predeceased by his parents; Ralph and Margaret Morton, Sisters; Helen and Rita, Brothers; Ron and Bobby. Leonard is survived by Sisters; Pat Feschuck of Dawson Creek, BC, Judy Altizer of LaCombe, AB, Vera Menzies-Grove of Salmon Arm, BC and several nieces and nephews. With respect to Leonard's wishes no formal funeral service will be held. Very Respectfully Reynars Funeral Home & Crematorium
