Obituary of Jeanie White

Jean was born in Sequim, Washington, USA on Feb. 13, 1928 to Edwin & Mae Sherburne. She came to Canada at the age of 18 months, and resided in the Florentine District of Saskatchewan. She took her schooling at the district one-room school house. Jean was working with her mother in the kitchen at the Two Rivers Bible School where she met the love of her life, Raymond (Ray) White. October 6, 1948 she married Ray of the Waterfield District where they moved and started their life together. They farmed in that district where they moved and started their life together. They farmed in the area until the early 1960's when they moved to Nipawin, SK. and resided in Nipawin until 1969 when they moved to Prince George. On May 12, 1950 a son, William Wesley (Waine) was born. Then on January 8, 1953 a daughter, Shirley Mae was born. Their family would now be complete. Homemaking was the highlight of her life where she enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, canning and even picking berries. Jean was a very accomplished seamstress and she did custom dressmaking for years. On July 3, 1971 Waine & Lorraine were married and August 3, 1974 Eldon & Shirley were married. Over the coming years she was blessed with 4 grandkids which she became extremely involved in their lives. She loved baking and decorating special birthday cakes for each of them. As they got older they would make sure Grama Jean knew what special character they wanted her to create for them. As examples: smurf village, strawberry shortcake, Barbie, etc. As the years passed great grandchildren appeared on the scene, thus having 5 generations together for numerous celebrations. Jean was known as Grama Jean to all the friends of her grandkids and great grandkids. They never left her home without a hug or maybe a peck on the cheek. Her love of her Lord and involvement in her church made her the special lady she was. Jean will be greatly missed by all those who came in contact with her.
