Obituary of Judy Winland

Judith Marie Winland was born on June 27, 1943, she was the oldest of 3 children born to Walter and June Garmier, in Canton, Ohio. Her brother Bill was next and baby sister Marva came 10 years later. They lived on a farm in Hartville, Ohio, where they had dairy cows. Judy helped with feeding and milking the cows, with the canning and preserving, and driving the tractor when it was time to bring in the hay. There was always something to do living on the farm. They had a big garden and grew just about everything you could think of; this is where her love of gardening came from. They also had an orchard with apples, cherries, peaches, plums, pears and several berry patches. All seasons were very busy. Apple picking time was always looked forward to; that meant apple pies and most of all apple cider. Having a family run farm meant everyone helped. They raised potatoes, grain, and corn for the market. When Judy finished high school she went on to college in Anderson, Indiana. After a year of college she came back to the farm and got a job at the nearby produce market called The Swamp. It was around this time she met her husband, Wayne. They were married on February 6, 1964.They started their life in Knoxville, Ohio. One year later their first son, David, was born and four years later came their second son, Dan. Several years later the pioneer bug hit Wayne, after he visited his brother in Chetwynd, BC. In April 1972, Wayne and Judy moved their family to Chetwynd, BC They raised their boys in Hasler Flats along with a big garden, horses, goats and a farm of their own. They had many adventures camping and horseback riding, with family being the main focus. In 1987, David married Monique Martin of Ohio, they have 8 children; Dan married Tracey Moore in 2000 of Chetwynd, they have 3 children. Judy was always willing to help people and she was a good listener. She had a wonderful laugh and enjoyed passing on her years and years of wisdom. She will be greatly missed. Judy is survived by her Parents; Walter and June Garmier, Loving Husband; Wayne of 47 years, Son; David (Monique) of Chetwynd, Son; Dan (Tracey) of Chetwynd, 11 Grandchildren: Jessica, Nathan, Nicole, Debra, Gracie, Joshua, Zachary, Jolene, Matt, Jeff, and Taylor. Judy Winland a long time resident of Chetwynd, B.C. passed away on Monday, April 4, 2011 in Chetwynd, at the age of 67 years. A celebration of Judy's life was held on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 1:00 pm from the Chetwynd Fellowship Baptist Church, Reverend Dennis Helset officiated. Interment will be at a later date.
