Obituary of Ted Farnsworth
Joseph Theodore Farnsworth, better known as Ted or Teddy was born to Mildred Katrine and Joseph Daniel Farnsworth on October 7th, 1935, in Poplar Hill, Alberta and was the oldest of 7 children. Ted had 5 brothers and 1 sister: Henry, Gordon, Eric, Archie, Murray and Donna. Henry lost his life at age 9 to pneumonia and Archie died in infancy.
In 1958 while in Vancouver, Teddy met Gail. They were married 6 months later on December 13th. Ted and Gail moved to Dawson Creek, BC and on October 21st, 1960, Joseph Brett was born. Six months later, Ted moved his family to Chetwynd. They lived in Campbell Cabins for a short time and then bought a small house on what was known, at that time, as Pea Soup Alley. On May 24th, 1962 Ted and Gail`s daughter, Marlita Dee was born. Two years later, on May 31st, 1964, their youngest and last child, Brad Allan, was born. This completed their family.
In 1966 Ted purchased property, west of Chetwynd. He moved their small house to the property and started construction on a new house, which Gail designed.
This property is located on what is now called 'Farnsworth Road' and remained home for the rest of Ted`s life.
In 1983, Ted and Gail spent the summer in Dawson City, Yukon, mining Gold for Tommy Ardil. They spent the entire summer living in their 10 foot camper and to everyone's surprise, they were still talking to each other, at summer`s end. That same year, they celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary by going to Hawaii with their dear friends Reg and Yvonne. This was the beginning of their globetrotting. Throughout the 90's, Ted and Gail traveled to San Diego, Toronto, Greece, Ireland, Antigua and even Forgan, Saskatchewan.
Ted started working for the District of Chetwynd, in 1986. He was now a government employee, so naturally he took up golfing. Golf quickly became Ted and Gail`s new passion. Ted also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends.
In 1985 Ted and Gail were blessed with their first grandchild, Kanaye. In 1987 Kody was born, followed by Kristin in 1995 and Brody in 1997. Ted's life was also touched by his step-grandchildren; Brittany, Shelby, Jennifer and Tyler and last summer, Ted became a great grandfather to Baby Nash.
In 2004 Gail lost her battle with cancer, Ted and the family were devastated.
