Obituary of Margaret Millie Coons

Margaret Millie Mollard, better known as "Millie", was born to Gladys and Ed Mollard on Sunday, September 13, 1936 in a little log house on the quarter of land that later became the home of Hilberg and Ebba Haugjord. She grew up and went to school in Cherry Point, Alberta. While living in Doe River a daughter was born to Millie and John Burch. Millie's daughter, Cherry, blessed Millie with three grandchildren and three great grand children. One of Millie's jobs was looking after Bill Greens boys. This is where she met Dwight Coons. They married in 1971 and resided in Rolla, BC until 1973 when they moved into a little house they had built in the Mollard yard. Millie and Dwight enjoyed travelling. Once they went to Ontario with Dwight's sister Jessie for a family wedding, and another time they went to Nashville, Tennessee, something Millie had dreamed of for years. They also enjoyed travelling to the BC interior to pick fruit. Millie enjoyed supplying friends and neighbors with "Avon" products. In 2009 Millie received her 20 year pin. Over the years she sold Shakley, Watkins and Regal products. Delivering Avon gave way to travel with her brother, John to deliver eggs for his regular customers. It was through Avon that she met her long time friend, Elaine Knapp, 27 years ago. Millie was an avid stamp collector and enjoyed knitting and quilting. Her numerous quilts were unique in that all the squares were hand sewn. She also spent many hours helping John with his jigsaw puzzles. Millie passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 in the Peace River Haven, Pouce Coupe, B.C. at the age of 74 years. She is survived by her Daughter; Cherry (Les),Grandchildren; Kathy (Rod), Johnny (Wendy) and James, Great-grandchildren; Emma, Jay, Jenna , Brother; John and numerous friends and neighbors. Millie was predeceased by her parents; Ed and Gladys Mollard and Husband; Dwight Coons.
