Obituary of David Kevin Gayse
Busy, happy, hardworking, fun-loving, mischievous, pleasant... These are all words that were attached to David throughout his life. But they also described the man himself. Especially mischievous..
David Kevin Gayse was born to proud parents Delphine and Wally Gayse in Dawson Creek on April 14th, 1960. He was the tenth born out of eleven children. In 1963 the Gayse family packed up their humble home and moved to Chetwynd where David remained a lifelong resident.
David met Laurie Young while she was still in high school, after several mischievous years, they started dating. A few years later they moved in together and were later married on April 18th,1987.
In his younger years David worked for several local contractors. In 1986, he got his class one and started to work for his father-in-law, Jack Young. David loved to work with Jack, whatever the job. In 1987, David was part of starting Pine River Holdings. In 1996 the business expanded into graveling, one of his favorite jobs was working with the Gravel Crusher. In addition to all of this, David and Laurie began to build the Westwind RV Park, which turned into a true family endeavor. David and Laurie managed to work both places. This was one of the things that they did best, 'work together'.
If you asked David what his greatest accomplishments in life were, he wouldn't say anything less than 'his family'. David and Laurie had two children, Sarah, who was born August 18, 1988, and Jesse, who followed a couple of years later on August 22, 1990. When Sarah and Jesse came along, it was very evident that his family was his top priority and he was very proud of them and their accomplishments. Some of you didn't get to see David with his family. This was another aspect that made him a great man. A man that made sure his family was taken care of. David wanted his eulogy to be written as a "Love Story", a tribute to his love for his family. He was a very strong man, through his illness he was always comforting everyone else with his "It will be alright". David strived to become the exceptional man he was and because of his qualities he has become an inspiration to many.
Until we meet again.
David is predeceased by brother Waddy, father Wally, sister Cathy, father-in-law Jack Young, and brother-in-laws Roy Bedell & Jim Martine.
He is survived by loving wife of 24 years, Laurie; son, Jesse; and daughter, Sarah, son-in-law Justin, and his pride and joy, grandson, Braxton.
