Obituary of Simon Boisvert

Simon Boisvert was born in Baieville, Quebec on July 7, 1926 to Josephat and Marie Boisvert. He was one of ten children. In the spring of 1928 his parents moved the family to Girouxville, Alberta where he was raised. While attending school Simon was living in town with his grandparents, as it was much easier than travelling from the Boisvert homestead. After quitting school at an early age Simon mainly farmed until 1954 when he married Teresa St. Laurent. For the next few years they lived on the Boisvert homestead while owning land four miles west of Girouxville. Soon after the arrival of their first child in 1956 a daughter; Lorraine, Simon stopped farming and sold the land. In 1957, Simon had moved his family to a sawmill camp north of Fort St John, BC. He worked at the mill until the spring of 1958. Upon leaving the sawmill the clutch on his 1952 Chevy 1/2 ton decided to call it quits on the outskirts of Dawson Creek. This blown clutch led to them making their home in Dawson Creek. In November of 1958 a son; Rodger was born. In 1962 a daughter; Bernadette, and in 1964 another daughter; Helen to the family. In 1966 son; Marcel was born leaving them with five beautiful children. While in Dawson Creek, Simon worked mainly for Dyke Construction. For a few short years he owned and operated an upholstery business. Simon had ended his career as a custodian for School District 59. Simon kept very busy and when he wasn't working on something he enjoyed camping and fishing. Simon will be dearly missed and not forgotten by his family, and his love and devotion for his wife Teresa is to be admired and respected as they celebrated 57 years of marriage.
