Obituary of Mary McBeth

Mary McBeth ( Sloane) was born on Sept 13 1933, in the Pouce Coupe hospital to William and Katherine Sloane. She grew up on the family homestead in Sunset Prairie with many wonderful memories of playing with her brothers and sisters, and riding horseback to McLeod school. Later on Mary worked at various jobs until she met and married Norman McBeth in 1961. Norman and Mary made their home in various places as Norman worked in the logging industry until 1968, when they moved to their own farm in Sunset Prairie. They had a mixed farm where they raised cattle horses. During this time three daughters were born to them, Marjorie, Brenda and Katherine. The farm life kept her busy, raising her daughters, planting large gardens, picking wild berries, sewing, canning, baking and creating a loving home for her family. Mary passed down her love of music to her children and grandchildren, by teaching them to play musical instruments such as guitar and violin. Mary had an incredible gift for music and could play many instruments by ear. Her younger years were filled with music as she played at local dances with her siblings. Mary had a real passion for growing things. Many hours were spent building flower beds and perusing seed catalogues. In later years she convinced Norman that he loved growing flowers, especially roses. Sunday afternoons were always special as their children and grandchildren all gathered at their house for the afternoon. Many hours were spent laughing and talking. Mary held the position of homemaker in high regard and taught her children the value of home, family and faith. Mary's simple faith in the Lord and sense of humor sustained her through many illnesses over the years. On November 15, 2011 Mary passed away at her home with her family by her side. Mary will be sadly missed by her loving husband, Norman McBeth, her children, Marjorie (Duane) Kettner, Brenda (David) DeWetter and Katherine (Jason) Felhauer, her grandchildren, Lacy, Clarke, Lee, Reid and Brooke, her sisters, Jean (Ben) Locke and Agnes Ellwood. Brother, Archie (Lona) Sloane. Brother in law Danny Ryan, Lorne (Ruby) McBeth, her Sisters in law, Lois McBeth and Gayle (Jim) Sketchley, and many nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her father and mother, William and Katherine Sloane, Brother Carl Sloane. Sisters, Georgia Ryan and Gertrude Higgs. Very respectfully Reynars Funeral Home and Crematorium
