Obituary of Trudy Lizotte

Trudy Lizotte passed away peacefully on December 5, 2011 at the Dawson Creek Hospital with her family by her side. She was born on February 3, 1935 in Sudetenland, Bodenbach, Czechoslovakia. She was the 2nd child and oldest daughter of Alois and Herta Poppe. In 1939, Trudy came over to Canada by boat with her Mom, Dad, Brother Alois, and two Sisters; Inga and Herta. They settled in Tomslake, BC where her brothers Herb and Fred were born and where Trudy went to school. Growing up in Tomslake, was a tough life and you worked hard for everything that you got. Trudy carried this work ethic into her adult life and worked at only three jobs her whole life. She started at the Sunlight Cafe and then went to Saan store to be the Manager, from there, she went to Nesbitt Burns in the office, which is where she retired from. On June 18, 1960 Trudy married Ray Lizotte and had a long happy marriage. They didn't travel a lot but loved to hunt, and spent many years going up the river on their river boat that Ray had built. On their first date, Ray took Trudy hunting and then bought her a hunting knife for their first Christmas together. Trudy and Ray belonged to the River Rats Boating club and made many lifelong friends. Every year, Trudy and Ray looked forward to their boating/hunting trips and everyone else looked forward to going with them as Trudy always supplied all the food. Trudy was the best cook and baker around and was very generous with all that she made. Trudy also loved picking berries, baking and gardening. Every year Trudy would fill deep freezes with her berries and baking and vegetables from the garden. She also would can enough pickles for the whole family. Ray will have enough pickles to last him forever. Trudy was predeceased by her Parents; Alois and Herta Poppe, her Mother and Father in law, as well as her Brothers; Al and Herb. Trudy is survived and missed by her loving Husband; of 51 years Ray, as well as her Sisters; Inga and Herta, Brother; Fred, and numerous nephews and nieces. With respect to Trudy's wishes no funeral service will be held. The family will hold a private gathering at a later date. For friends so wishing donations may be made in memory of Trudy to the charity of choice. Very Respectfully Reynars Funeral Home & Crematorium
