Obituary of Herb Pocock
Herbert David Milton Pocock was born on November 5, 1929 to Oliver and Bessie Pocock in Clinton, Ontario. He had two older sisters, Eileen & Naida. By the time Herb was 14 he was driving truck.
Herb met Joyce Glenn in their community at a dance. They were married in 1951. Herb was such a hard worker and had many jobs.
In 1979 Herb and Joyce headed west. They moved to Dawson Creek and Herb set to work doing a variety of jobs and eventually built up his business, Pocock Construction. At one time he had upwards of 12 trucks. Herb was supposed to be retired these last 10 years, but he just couldn't stay home, he had to be at the office checking on the guys.
Herb enjoyed gardening. His favorite was tomatoes. He also did a little woodworking and kept his dugout stocked with fish.
Herb passed away on March 2, 2012 in Demmitt, Alberta. A funeral service was held on March 8, 2012 at 1:00 pm from Reynars Funeral Chapel. Pauline Haycock officiated. Interment followed in the Brookside Cemetery.
Herb is predeceased by his parents; Oliver and Bessie and his sister; Eileen.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Joyce, Sons; David, Allan (Lucy), Steven (Suzanne), Dennis (Terry), Larry (Leslie), his grandchildren; April (James), Myles, Dylan, Stevie (Daneka) and Samantha, great-granddaughters; Jacobi and Lily and sister; Naida.
