Obituary of Rory Desjarlais
Rory Darin Kyle Desjarlais was born on Thursday, January 22, 1987 in Dawson Creek, BC. His two brothers Jamie and Derek, and his sister Chrissy gave him his three names Rory Darin Kyle. He was always proud of that. It wasn't long before Rory learned his place in the family as "The Baby". He took advantage of that whenever he could! (his siblings made sure he was the one to ask mom and dad when they all wanted something).
Rory was born with a heart condition that kept him a bit fragile. As a result, he wasn't allowed to jump on a trampoline, join karate, or play the sports that other kids did. He let his family know they were being over-protective by calling himself 'the boy in the bubble'. Rory's heart condition helped shaped him into the man he was and what it lacked in physical strength, it made up for in emotional strength.
When Rory was eighteen years old, he had one of the valves in his heart replaced with a mechanical valve. With his new 'robotic' heart he could always hear himself ticking and sometimes he got tired of listening to it. But, the thing is, Rory needed this new heart to keep up with the demands of all the love he carried for his friends and family. Rory lived in a blended family and he had brothers and sisters that he came to love and vice versa. It was unavoidable, because there was always a way for Rory to get to your heart. Two people in his life had a special place there; His son's Tynin, who is 2, and Rory Lawrence who is 9 months. His boys were the pride of Rory's life. He loved them more than anything.
Rory was the guy who welcomed newcomers first and put them at ease with his contagious humor. He was a goofy guy and making friends came easy. When someone left a room that he was in, they were usually smiling. He had that effect on people. Rory always made an effort to stay in touch with people he cared about. His friendships were long lasting; even when they were friends that his teachers and parents didn't like.
Rory had a love for gaming, music, and cars. And those passions often mixed. Thanks to his family, he always had the newest and coolest systems and games (like a see thru Xbox and entertainment system to go with it). He and his friends spent countless hours in his basement gaming and listening to music. Then when he got his first car, the Stratus, Rory and his buddies would drive around listening to Ludicrous, or Snoop dog; cruising the burbs and having a good time. He liked other kinds of music too, as long as it had a good base-line. One of his favourite songs was 'Creep' by Radiohead and he used to sing it every time he played Sing Star.
Rory's last facebook post was 'hello world what a beautiful day cloudy and cold is still beautiful when you have 2 awesome babies in your life and good friends to help pick you up when you fall.".
Rory will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
