Obituary of Jacob Martens

Jacob Martens (Jake) was born on August 20, 1923 at Hoffnungsort School District, near Plum Coulee Manitoba. He was the eldest child of David and Justina Martens. In 1947 he moved to Edmonton, Alberta and married Ruth Audrey Gillespie on July 29, 1949 at the age of 26. Together they had eight children: Dianne-deceased (David), Linda (Paul-deceased), George (Debbie-deceased), Susan (Terry), Kevin-deceased, Eric (Nathalie), Pamela (Brian), and Garnet (Sherrie). The family moved to the Peace Country in Northern B.C. in the summer of 1957. Jake was a carpenter to provide for his family. In the summer and fall, the family would hunt, fish and go camping. This became a family ritual. Jake was grandfather of 19 and great-grandfather of 17. On March 20, 2012 he passed away peacefully in his sleep where he was reunited with family in heaven. We will miss you Jake, Dad, and Grandpa. Very Respectfully Reynars Funeral Home & Crematorium
