Obituary of Murray Wright

Frances Murray Wright was born on June 7, 1938 in Springside, Saskatchewan. He was the second child born to Bill and Ivy Wright. In 1945, the Wright family moved from Winnipeg, Manitoba to Mile 22 Alaska Hwy, to work on the Alaska Hwy. Murray's father worked at various locations along the highway and his mother was employed at the camp. This was a large highway maintenance camp, complete with a school which Murray attended. Murray's father also started a small farm at Mile 16 along the Wallis Road. Murray and his brother Trevor then went on to higher education at Parkland School. In 1956, Murray enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy. His training was within the Medical Corp. He spent three years in the Navy, and upon discharge he returned to Dawson Creek, BC to start employment at the Dawson Creek General Hospital as a male orderly. Murray married Marylin in 1961 to this union two daughters were born Cindy and Maureen. Later Murray and Marylin parted there seperate ways. Murray was a fairly good carpenter and woodworker which came in handy when building two houses, a barn and a garage. He sold his property in Farmington and eventually relocated to Rolla. In 1995, Murray married his soul mate Catherine. Together they continued gardening, and fixing up an old home. Murray never lost his love for camping, hunting, fishing and together they done quite a bit of travelling. He had to have animals so besides the dogs and a cat they raised meat rabbits until the cost of feed forced them to discontinue the operation. Murray will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. Murray passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, April 15, 2012 in Rolla, at the age of 73 years. A celebration of Murray's life was held on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Rolla Community Hall, Pastor Gary Henderson officiated, interment will be at a later date. Murray was predeceased by his Father; Bill, Mother; Ivy and Brother; Bruce. Murray is survived by his loving Wife; of 17 years, Cathy, Daughters; Cindy (Gary), Maureen (Darren), Grandchildren; Edan, Joles, Clinton, Jodie and Bowen, Brother; Trevor, Brother In Law; Albert, and Numerous Nieces and Nephews.
