Obituary of Uwe Joachim Jessen
Uwe Joachim Jessen was born in Kiel, Germany on June 5, 1926 to his parents Heinrich and Auguste Jessen.
Agriculture was Uwe's passion and after finishing high school, he enrolled in agricultural college and graduated in 1951. In 1952, he looked for new fields abroad and arrived in Leduc, AB. He started working on a farm and in the winters, he worked at sawmills and for CP Rail in B.C.
Uwe returned to Germany to marry the love of his life Hanna. They were married on April 21, 1956. On April 7, 1962, he packed up his wife and three sons Chris, Lorenz, and Melf to move to Canada.
Uwe's ultimate goal was to come to a new country and buy a farm. At that time, farms were unaffordable in Europe. Uwe and his family bought a farm in Prince George, BC lived there for four years where their son Peter was born. In 1966, he and his family moved to a farm in Sunset Prairie where another son; Bendix was born.
Uwe a long time resident of Sunset Prairie, B.C. passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2012 in Dawson Creek, at the age of 85 years.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 1:00 pm at the Peace Mission Chapel Progress, B.C. Pastor Lee Stephenson officiated; Interment followed in the Sunset Prairie Cemetery.
Uwe will be sadly missed by his loving Wife; Hanna, five Sons, Daughter-In-Laws, thirteen Grandchildren and Friends.
We would like to thank him for everything he gave us, taught us, inspired us.
