Obituary of Blaine Nellis

Blaine passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2012 in Dawson Creek, at the age of 33 years. A celebration of Blaine's life was held on Saturday, September 8, at 2:00 pm at the South Peace United Church in Dawson Creek, Reverend Elizabeth Gillot officiated. Interment will be at a later date. Blaine was born in Kamloops on January 10, 1979. Many people didn't know his first name was David. Blaine was a happy baby, never sick and always smiling. He spent a lot of time going fishing and hunting with his dad and sister Tina. As a family we went camping and made many trips to visit family in Hope, BC and Ontario. Recently he had travelled to Vancouver Island and to the East Coast. He was currently working for Fabcor and worked as a pipeliner most of his career. He loved all sports bowling, baseball, hockey, lacross, golf, boxing and working out at the gym. It was through all of these sports that Blaine made many long lasting friendships. Blaine attended Tremblay Elementary, Central Middle School and graduated from South Peace Secondary School in 1996. His sister Tina got a few breaks in her teens, always protected by her older brother. His nephews Jeremy and Gabriel enjoyed spending time with Uncle-playing poker was their favorite, swimming or playing games on the xbox and playstation. Special Memories read by Satchel Ravelli ~ Personally I met Blaine when we were 4 years old; he was such a happy and outgoing child that we became inseparable immediately. Once I spent 17 nights at Blaine's house in a row, and he spent 14 nights at my house. We had so many good times playing on my Grandpa's farm, bowling, baseball, hockey, and lacrosse. A lot of road trips and good times. We worked together at Boston Pizza, and have to mention the trailer days and the Gravedigger. (Don't ask). He had a sense of humour like no other and could always come back with those one liners and everyone would be in stitches laughing. Everyone had a nick name, how and where he could come up with them, we will never know. Mine was the Wop, my brother Tasman's was Ottis. Even his dog Cypris got a nick name, La Toy. Blaine was a true friend who always had your back. Love you Buddy. Special Memories presented by Brendan McGuiness ~ Blaine was one of those people with such an exuberant personality that you rarely see over the course of your life. He had a bright smile, a contagious laugh, and a sense of humour like no other. The nick names he would come up with alone were enough to make you laugh. I know for myself I had around five or so he would bounce between Guinnie, Bin Guinard, Sorry, Stupines or Stupes. Blaine was quite the character. When it came to Blaine I always knew I had a friend I could count on no matter what, he was more than a friend...he was a brother. Let's not leave here today in pain leave here knowing how fortunate we are to have known such a good person and take that energy of the memories we have of him and carry them for life, that's the one thing that his passing can't take away from us. Good-bye my friend, I love you and will always cherish the times I had with you, your bro Guinny. Special Memories by Brandi Hegge ~ I have known Blaine for about 14 years. We started dating in high school and became high school sweethearts! I fell for him hard! What wasn't to like Blaine was funny, outgoing, kind hearted, easy to be around, a true genuine guy. Oh, not to mention his cute little blonde mushroom hair style he was rolling at the time. We had 10 years of dating with a few breakups in between. Even though we are not dating now, we always stayed in touch. When I think back on times, I am blessed to have known Blaine. There is that saying "You don't know what you have until you've lost it" in this case it does not apply. I know what you meant to me as I know you did as well. I took a line out of a poem you wrote for me. It said "Once again my princess was there, like an angel always there for me". Now you're My Angel and everyone else's, who loved and cared for you so much. There has and always will be a place for you in my heart. Until we meet again. You will be so dearly missed, but never forgotten. Rest in peace Blaine, Love you lots Brandi. A.K.A Carl, Sweets, Bambi I even got his mom's a time or two- Nosey Nora (Obviously when I'd ask to many questions.) Blaine was predeceased by his loving Father; Oscar Nellis, Grandpa; Jack Nellis, Grandmother; Millie Tremblay, and Grandpa; David Green. Blaine is survived by his loving Mother; Eva, Sister; Tina, Nephews; Jeremy Nellis, and Gabriel Wilson, Grandma; Mary Green, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
