Obituary of Avery Margo Malcolm Lizotte

Avery Margo Malcolm Lizotte was born on June 9, 1963 in Fort Vermillion, Alberta to Howard and Drilda Lizotte. Avery was the second born of 7 children. Avery came from a very musical family, his Grandfather; Narcise Lizotte was an excellent fiddler and most of his great uncles were musical as well. That skill and passion for music was passed to Avery's father Howard. Howard was a master of the fiddle and at an early age Avery began his love of music. Avery learned to play the fiddle at an early age, but that was not the instrument that would capture Avery's love and attention. For the first 5 years of his life Avery's family lived in Fort Vermillion, then they moved to Fort St John BC, so Howard could work oil rigs. When Avery was twelve the family moved to Dawson Creek, in 1975 the family settled in Pouce Coupe where they still live. It is at that time in Pouce Coupe Avery started learn the drums from Danny Dube the drummer in his dad's band. Avery could play guitar and bass guitar but the drums seemed to make the most sense to him. At the age of 16 Avery started to play in the family band which would become known as the Native Sons. In the band he played country and old rock music with his Uncle Roger, Uncle Crow, his father Howard and a host of other musicians. Avery looked so happy behind a drum kit keeping time for the poplar dance band. One of his favourite songs to drum to was "Silver Wings" by Merle Haggard. Like many of his relatives Avery enjoyed going to Bingo, and having the occasional drink or two. He also shared the ability to tell stories, now not all the stories were 100% true, but they were funny. To say Avery had a sense of humour does not begin to describe it. He could come back with a smart comment faster than anyone I know. There were sometimes he seemed like a really quiet guy, not say much or looking kind of pasted out, but then bang, smart comment. Avery earned a living as an oilfield worker in addition to playing drums in several different bands throughout the 80-90's. Avery had a long term relationship with Cynthia that produced many funny moments and 4 boys: Kodie, Ian, Adrian, Avery Junior. He also had a daughter named Megon. After the tragic passing of his father Howard, and his brother Kirby, Avery moved back home to comfort his mother Drilda. After the move home, Avery started a relationship with Trina. Unfortunately Avery's health started to decline, with different health issues. These health issues stuck with him until his passing. Avery was a master dealer, he could trade anything and get the better end of the deal. At the same time he also was helpful and used his dealing powers to help others in their time of need. Avery was not a perfect person and he had his share of problems but that did not stop him from trying to enjoy life. In the end Avery was satisfied with his life and he passed away in peace. Avery passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2012 in Pouce Coupe, at the age of 49 years. A wake was held on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 6:00 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall in Pouce Coupe, B.C. A funeral service was held on Friday, October 5, at 11:00 am at the Notre Dame Catholic Church in Dawson Creek, Interment followed in the Brookside Cemetery.
