Obituary of FLORENCE MARIE FRASER

FLORENCE MARIE FRASER 1922 ~ 2012 Beloved wife to Ted Loving Mother to Michael (Janet) Fraser, Janice (Jerome) Keller, Lynda (Brian) Mattson, and Sue (Marke) Pedersen Loving Grandmother to Kaillah and Brody Fraser, C.J. (Trina) Mattson, Sadie Mattson, and Amanda, Aaron, and Katelyn Hoffman Great-grandmother to Brice and Sayge Sister to Rita (Norbert) Kohlen Florence passed away on October 20, 2012 in Dawson Creek, British Columbia at 90 years of age. She was born on July 12, 1922 in Nobleville, Saskatchewan to Albina and Leonide Letestu. Florence was the 3rd eldest of 8 children. Early in 1950 Mom was introduced to Dad through her brother Leo. That was it for Ted! He couldn't keep his eyes off of our beautiful mother! They married on November 29, 1950 in Brandon Manitoba. Together they moved from Brandon to Sarnia and then to Oklahoma, where Ted worked on the construction of oil refineries and gas plants. Then back to Brandon, Yorkton, and Unity, Saskatchewan, before their final destination of Dawson Creek in 1971. Along the way they raised their four children. When we think of Mom we always remember how much Mom and Dad loved the great outdoors and spent many weekends camping, hunting, and fishing. She especially loved the North, and she and Dad took many trips to Dawson City and Alaska. Mom loved the beauty in all of the seasons. Many hours on a Sunday afternoon were spent out in the countryside driving along lakes and rivers and down logging roads enjoying the colours of the season. Mom always loved a good party! She loved to celebrate any occasion with family and friends. She was always the life of the party and often the reason for everyone to gather together. Her spirit for fun and zest for life were always present. Nothing meant more to Mom than her family. She loved completely and unconditionally. She was always ready to forgive and never held a grudge. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Through the eyes of her grandchildren she is described as a guiding spirit, a sounding board, and a model of steadfastness - a figure to aspire to. She was always positive and moved forward gracefully. Her world was small compared to the size of her heart. She was an affectionate, doting Grandma, and her grandchildren, now all young adults, cherish her loving traits. In life, Mom lived each day to the fullest. She had an incredible sense of humour and a wit that was unparalleled. She always laughed, even up until her final hours. Mom loved - she loved Ted, she loved her family, and she loved her friends with all of her heart. Florence's life was celebrated during a funeral mass on Thursday, October 25, 2012 and will be interred in the Dawson Creek City Cemetery Columbarium at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Dawson Creek & District Hospital Auxiliary where Florence served our community.
