Obituary of Leslie Diane Boe
Leslie Diane Boe, a lifelong resident of Dawson Creek, B.C. passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, July 22, 2013 at the age of 51 years.
Leslie was born in Edmonton on November 27, 1961 along with her twin sister Lorras. At the age of 2, the family moved from Chetwynd to Dawson Creek where Leslie lived until her passing. She began working at K-Mart following graduation and continued on for close to 20 years. Over the years Leslie and her mom became not only mother and daughter, but they became best friends.
Leslie first met her husband in Grade 9 and in Grade 12, something happened that would set the course for their future together. Terry was wearing a t-shirt that had a sad puppy on it that said, "If I was lost would you take me home?", Leslie looked at Terry and said, "Yes I would." But being naive, it went right over Terry's head. In spite of this oversight by Terry, they began dating after high school and married on October 3, 1989 in a secret ceremony at her sister Lorras' home.
On July 4, 1995 their first son Jacob Tyler Boe was born, followed by Michael Benjamin Boe on May 20, 1997. From the moment Leslie became a mom it was clear she was destined to be the World's Best Mother. Leslie put the needs of her family and friends ahead of herself. Even as Leslie began her battle with cancer in 2007, she continued to always put the needs of others before her own.
Over the years Terry and Leslie loved to travel. After the birth of their boys they carried on this love. Many trips were with Lorras and her family. A highlight in Leslie's final years was the trip to Germany with her sisters to visit her father, Walter's homeland.
Leslie's love of cards started at an early age, as Daryl always says, "they learned to play cards in their cribs." Over the past years Leslie got much enjoyment socializing and playing Texas Hold 'Em with close friends. Most games ended with Leslie winning all of the money.
Leslie was predeceased by her mom Beatrice in 1995 and her dad Walter in 2010.
Leslie is survived by her loving husband Terry, their sons Jacob and Michael; her twin sister Lorras (Darrell) Brummund, their sons Simon and Matt; sister Carol (Daryl) Makuch, their sons Kalon and Dane; sister Maureen (Gary) Price, and the entire Boe family.
A Celebration of Leslie's life was held on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Dawson Creek Alliance Church. Pastor Gary Lawrence officiated. Interment followed in the Brookside Cemetery.
For friends so wishing, donations may be made in memory of Leslie to the South Peace Hospice Palliative Care Society, Room 101, 816-103 Avenue, Dawson Creek, B.C. V1G2G1.
