Obituary of Robin James Sutherland

Robin James Sutherland was born November 15, 1937 in Pouce Coupe B.C. He was raised in the Many Creeks area and finished school in grade 9 in Bonanza, Alberta. Robin met and married Marion Lambert. They had four children. The early years saw them moving to many parts of Alberta but eventually settled in the County of Grande Prairie and purchasing their first home in Wembley, Alberta in 1972. In Wembley they were active members of the community and Robin was a member of the Lions Club and the Agricultural Society. He was also very involved in the youth of the community as a minor hockey coach and a respected leader of various 4H clubs. Robin lost Marion in 1987 and would later marry Shelley Christopherson in 1991; together they had two children. They moved their family to a farm on Ray Lake near Demmitt, Alberta where Robin once again focused on family and community becoming an active member of the Demmitt Cultural Society. Robin passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, October 11, 2013 in Beaverlodge at the age of 75 years. A memorial service was held on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, Hythe, Alberta. Pastor Ella Loberg officiated. Interment followed in the City Cemetery in Dawson Creek, B.C. Robin was predeceased by his parents James and Jane Sutherland, first wife Marion, brothers; Donald, Jack and Angus, sister Janet Farnsworth, brother-in-law John Farnsworth, sister-in-law Nila Foster, daughter-in-law; Jodi and one great grandchild, Declan. Robin is survived by his loving wife Shelley, children; Darwin (Irene), Terrace, Dianna (Terry), LaDonna (Sam), Jordan, and Raelyn, sisters; Caroline (Leonhart), and Ivy (Pierre), sister-in-law Louise, 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
