Obituary of Helen Annabella Wilfur

Helen Wilfur a long time resident of Dawson Creek, and in the later years a long time resident of Parksville, B.C., sadly passed away Tuesday morning November 19, 2013 in Nanaimo hospital at the age of 78 years with her son Wayde and daughter Carly by her side. A funeral service was held at 1:00 pm on Friday, November 29th, 2013 from Reynars Funeral Chapel, Dawson Creek. Interment followed in the Dawson Creek City Cemetery. Helen was born on December 2, 1934 in Silver Park, Saskatchewan. She was one of three children born to John and Mary MacLauchlan. Helen was the oldest then her younger brother Alex who sadly passed away at the tender age of ten months and her youngest brother Donald. The family moved from Silver Park to Arras B.C. in the spring of 1952. The family was there for just two short years then moved to Dawson Creek. During those two years in Arras she met and married here first husband of 30 years Ernie Wilfur. They raised three children together, oldest Daughter, Carly, Son Randy, who unfortunately passed away in 1982 and youngest Son Wayde. Helen was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was always phoning friends and family members or sending them something she had made. Her and her brother Donald never missed a phone call every single night of their life to say goodnight to each other. She phoned her children almost as often too, just to say goodnight or have a great day. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were always very close to her heart. Helen worked for many years for MacLeod's and Safeway's as a cashier, anyone that met Helen automatically loved her as she would always go out of her way to make your day better. Helen was always a hard worker and a kind and giving person which she instilled in her children. Her children and family were her life; she loved them all as they did her. She loved doing crafts of all kinds, she made beautiful arrangements out of silk flowers, driftwood and seashells that she could have sold in stores, but was always happy just making them for family and friends. For any and all occasions you could be sure she would be working on a homemade card that would have your picture on it with other scrapbooking material places just right that pertained just to you for your birthday or anniversary or any other holiday, which she never forgot. She was the best mother any child could ask for. She loved to read books, and always kept a diary of her daily adventures which now for the family will be lovely to look back on. She and her home always looked immaculate, Helen loved to cook for family and friends, if you were at her home you were fed and treated like royalty, and made to always feel right at home. She loved to work outside in her yard, and go camping. During those camping trips is when she fell in love with living down on the island in Parksville, where she lived for many years, with her second partner Tony Bieganski until sadly he passed away in 2010. Helen had special friends on the island that helped her out after Tony passed. Edna Dick and Annikki Sappanan, her best girlfriends and Peter Giesbrecht and George and Vicki Sheard, who were always checking on her to make sure all was well. Her daughter went down for month long visits in the summer with her, and her son Wayde and his partner Kathy would always try to make it for Xmas with her. The rest of the Grandchildren, and Great Grandchildren, and nieces and nephews would visit as often as they could get away as well. Helen was a joy to be around. Her favorite thing if you visited was you all had to make a trip to the thrift store, or the dollar store, where she loved to shop, she'd say, look at all the great stuff you can get for next to nothing. She was always making a box up to send to friends and family with all kinds of special things she had found for you there. Unfortunately in early 2011 Helen was diagnosed with kidney disease, but she took on dialysis days at Nanaimo Clinic like the trooper she was, she never complained. Even though she was ill, she was always doing something or making something to take to the nurses to make them feel better. They called here their queen and they all loved her dearly. She was an inspiration to everyone. She was our Angel that cared for all of us while here on earth. Now she is an Angel working in the Great Beyond probably cooking for everybody there, and making sure the Pearly Gates are properly polished every day for the next person to enter. She will leave to mourn every single person that ever had the privilege of having her in their life. Helen is predeceased by her parents, John and Mary, Brothers, Alex and Donald, Longtime companion, Tony Beiganski, her son Randy, and nephew Kenneth. Helen is survived by: Ernie Wilfur, father of daughter Carly, and son Wayde Grandchildren: Kalin, Carla, Lacey, and Breanna Great Grandchildren, Ainsley, Aashiana, Priya, Kayden, Colton, Logan, Tyson, Piersonand many nieces and nephews all whom she kept close to her heart, as well as her close friends whom she'll be with always in spirit.
