Obituary of Brenda Waldie

Brenda Waldie, a lifelong resident of Chetwynd, B.C. passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2013 in Chetwynd at the age of 63 years. Brenda Louise Krauchi was born in Loon Lake, Saskatchewan on April 22, 1950 to parents John and Clara Krauchi. She was the third of four girls; Sharon, Dorothy, Brenda and Marlene. Sawmills brought the Krauchi family to the Chetwynd area, and the family moved to Hasler Flats in 1955. In the summer of 1966 John moved the family to Buick Creek to be closer to their farm. Brenda went to school most of the years in Chetwynd and graduated in Fort St. John. In 1961 the Waldie family moved from North Rolla to Chetwynd. Lorne and Brenda married on October 26, 1970. Their family grew on March 4, 1973 with the arrival of Shayne. Two years later, on the same day, Lorna was born in Prince George. Lorne and Brenda moved around quite a bit in the early years from Houston to Prince George and to Nimpo Lake. Eventually they came back to Chetwynd in 1980. Brenda enjoyed life on the farm in Farrell Creek and the Pine Meadow Farm in Chetwynd. Brenda loved being a grandma to her four grandchildren; Dayton, Garyn, Kennedy and Pryce. They spent many great days at the river and the cabin at Moberly Lake. She loved watching her kids and grandchildren play sports, and was proud of their accomplishments. She would travel far and wide to watch them play, especially if there was a casino nearby. Brenda enjoyed lengthy conversations about current events and politics. She loved reading newspapers, magazines and always kept up on the latest news. She was genuinely interested in what people had to say and never backed down from a debate. People stopping for a quick minute at her office were usually there for an hour or so. Brenda was very proud of her family and loved them dearly. She will be greatly missed by all. Brenda is survived by; her loving husband of 43 years Lorne, son Shayne (Christy), their children Dayton and Garyn, daughter Lorna (Sandy), and their children Kennedy and Pryce. A Celebration of Brenda's life was held on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 2:00pm at the Chetwynd Fellowship Baptist Church. Pastor Bill Evans officiated. Interment will be at a later date.
