Obituary of Stanley G Hill
Stanley G Hill 1925-2013 Stan was born on September 25, 1925 in Innisfail, Alberta the youngest in a family of four children. His mother passed away when he was just one year old and he was raised by his father. They moved to Edmonton where Stan started working with the Northern Alberta Railway. When just old enough he joined the Navy and went overseas in 1943. After the war he went back to the NAR and was sent to Dawson Creek as the Mechanical Supervisor in 1947. On June 6, 1950 he married the love of his life, Dorothy Dingle. Together they raised their four children Lyal (Eilly), Lori (Jim Taylor), Blake (Connie), and Craig (Cindy). Stan was a volunteer firefighter for 23 years and attended many serious fires in those days. He retired after 44 years of service with the NAR-CNR in 1986. Stan was a member of the Dawson Creek Golf and Country Club and the Dawson Creek Curling Club. He served on the executives of both clubs and still enjoyed playing both games right up until this year. He also served on the Dawson Creek Athletic Association and was an active Legion member. He thought Dawson Creek was the best place in the world to live.
