Obituary of Dennis Russell Clark

Dennis Clark, a long-time resident of Chetwynd, B.C; formerly of Dawson Creek, B.C. passed away peacefully with family by his side on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 in Chetwynd at the age of 63 years. Dennis was born on July 9, 1950 to Russ and Helen Clark in Edmonton, AB. He was their third of four children. Dennis grew up in the Dawson Creek and Pouce Coupe area, where his family owned a dairy farm. As a youngster, Dennis learned about hard work on the farm and had many, many cherished memories there. Dennis married his childhood friend, Gloria Sullivan and in 1973 Melanie was born and Aaron came along two years later. They settled near Gloria's parents outside of Pouce Coupe and had a close relationship with them. Dennis and Gloria's dad, Steve would go hunting together quite often and as a family they would camp and go fishing regularly. Dennis worked driving truck and delivering freight for Canadian Freightways and Motorways in Dawson Creek for many years. He worked locally, but mostly was on long haul trips that took him up the Alaska Highway frequently. He would come home with stories of the beauty of the north and always wanted to travel up the highway on a holiday. Eventually that wish came true and he was able to make the trip all the way to Haines, Alaska. He knew where to stop and had all kinds of great stories of his adventures to tell along the way. Dennis and Gloria parted ways and he moved to Chetwynd. He worked there hauling logs for Jack Ganson and Jack Young. Eventually he worked with his friend and son-in-law, Kirk at Trackwest hauling logs and gravel. Along with trucking, he ran grader for JD Road Maintenance the last 10 years. Dennis met Val in Chetwynd and have spent the last 20 years together. They have enjoyed some travelling over the years to Hawaii, Australia and Las Vegas. Dennis is predeceased by his father, Russ Clark and sister, Esther Cardinal. He will be sadly missed by his spouse, Val Kibsey; mother, Helen (Vern) Rambo; brother, Ron Clark; sister, Elaine (Jim) Haywood-Farmer; ex-wife, Gloria Clark; children, Melanie (Kirk) Douglas; son, Aaron (Deanna) Clark; grandchildren, Jenna, Jake, Alex and Ryan; Val's Children; Kim (Kelly) Tricker; Carmen (Jim) Westgate; Ron Kibsey; Farra (Ben) Bates; their children and grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. With respect to Dennis' wishes no formal funeral service will be held. For friends so wishing donations may be made in memory of Dennis to the Chetwynd and District Hospital Foundation Palliative Care Unit Box 121, Chetwynd, B.C., V0C 1J0.
