Obituary of Kelly Roy Gladue

Kelly Roy Gladue was born in Hythe, Alberta on June 25, 1951 to Aldolphus and Adeline Gladue. He was one of thirteen siblings. He attended school in Alberta. Living not far from grandma brought him great joy, she taught him to love the outdoors. He was taught traditional ways of trapping, tanning hides and hunting and most important he spoke Cree. Roy loved to play baseball at the field near home in Lymburn. He spent many hours hunting with family members and friends. Hunting was not always fruitful, one day he spent quality time just shooting at the ducks at a nearby pond with Doreen. His Dad was not very happy about how many bullets were used especially with no ducks in hand but what a great memory. At an early age he fell in love with music. This happened one day when his dad brought home a guitar. He had to wrestle his brother Gary for the guitar first. I don't know if he really was the victor because the dispute ended with Roy wearing it as a hat. Maybe this is where he got his love of hats from too. His favorite singers were Elvis Presley and Freddie Fender. He even seemed to style his mustache after Freddie and have the Elvis pelvis shake. When he was a young man he moved to the big city of Dawson Creek to find his way. He did odd jobs working on farms and firefighting. He was a really good mechanic. Roy was a real ladies man. He knew how to butter them up and keep them smiling. He really liked taking the ladies for a spin on the dance floor and he was always carrying groceries home or doing small chores to help them out. I don't think he passed his secrets onto his brothers because most of them are single. In the spring of '69 Roy met Eva, from this union in the summer of '72, Jamie-Lee Adeline was born. Soon after they went their separate ways. But not without making sure she knew how to iron a pair of pants correctly. Shortly after he me Shirley John and in the year of '76 they married and had five children; Patrick (deceased), Elizabeth, Kathleen, Rosemarie and Cheryl. Although this did not last, Roy was always very proud of his children and stayed close. The girls loved going on hunting trips with dad, sitting by the campfires, singing songs. He really enjoyed spending time with his fifteen grandchildren; Tyler, Ashton, Landon, Brooklyn, Christian, Chase, Shyanne, Kallie, Paris, Alaina, Taylor, Tristian, Glen, Mercedes and Gabrielle. Roy always had a smile on his face, a lady on his arm and a joke to tell. He spent many hours reminiscing about the old days with family and friends. He was always open to new things, even in his final hours he was trying to learn how to play Call of Duty on the Playstation3 with his bud, Peter. On January 17, 2014 Roy was called home to join his loved ones and will be greatly missed by those left behind. Kelly was predeceased by his Parents Adolphus & Adeline, Son Patrick, Brothers Melvin, Sidney, Ronnie, Leonard & Robert aka Bobby. Kelly is survived by his children Jamie (Kevin), Elizabeth, Kathleen, Rosemarie and Cheryl, Grandchildren Tyler, Ashton, Landon, Brooklynn, Christian, Chase, Shyanne, Kallie, Paris, Alaina, Taylor, Tristian, Glen, Mercedes & Gabrielle, Brothers Danny, Miles, Colin, Gary, Oliver (Dee-Dee), Sisters Doreen (Wilfred), Diane (Dennis) and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a great friend to many. A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 1:00 pm from Reynars Funeral Chapel. Pastor Cory Lizotte officiated. Interment followed in the Brookside Cemetery.
