Roberta Joy Moffatt 1939 - 2014 With much grace Roberta Joy Moffatt passed away January 6, 2014 fifteen months after her cancer diagnosis. Joy was born in Victoria, British Columbia on July 29, 1939. She is survived by her loving husband Gordon. Her children Joanne (Wally) Keigan, Sheila (Richard) Keltie, Dale (Erin Mckenna) Moffatt. Grandchildren Bobbie, Erin, Riley, Jonathan and Jordan. Her brother Reginald (Lois) Barclay. As well as many extended family and friends. Joy taught in school district #59 for 35 years. Many of those years were devoted to special education. Once she retired from teaching she took on another career as a Practitioner of Energy and Alternative medicine. This work allowed her to continue supporting people. Joy worked up until this last year. Joy cherished the community that she adopted in her early twenties. She was an active member of the community with endless attachments to various groups. Ski Patrol, On our Own, U.C.W., Compassion club, Bridge, Potluck singers, wed morning group, Kiwanis, South Peace United Church and the list goes on. Joy had a true sense of adventure which took her and Gordon on extensive travel. They spent a lot of time in Central and South America. Last trip there had Joy zip lining thru the jungle tops in Panama. She always wanted to explore the local culture and history. She wasn't interested in sitting on a beach. Joy's life was filled with music, gardening, and various sports. Always willing to give all to what she participated in. Joy's gentle soul will be missed and memories cherished. The family is grateful for the support from friends and the medical community over this past year. A celebration of life service was held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 2:00pm at the South Peace United Church, Dawson Creek, British Columbia. Expressions of sympathy may be made in memory of Joy by way of a donation to The South Peace United Church Memorial Fund 1300 - 104th Avenue, Dawson Creek, British Columbia V1G 2J6.
