Obituary of Wayne Carl Stelmaker

Wayne Stelmaker, a long time resident of Moberly Lake, B.C; formerly of Pouce Coupe, B.C. passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2014 in Chetwynd, at the age of 53 years. Wayne Carl Stelmaker was born in May 22, 1930 to Albert and Alvina Stelmaker at Cardston, Alberta. He was the second oldest of 6 children. Wayne loved to tease his siblings and close friends. He attended the Pouce Coupe Secondary School and later moved to the Parkview School in Dawson Creek. Wayne started working at a very young age of 14 years. He was never afraid of hard work. His first job was mowing lawns, he later moved on operating power saws. He worked for many native contractors on seismic jobs, including pipeline jobs. He spent a lot of time in camp to make his living. Wayne loved being with his friends and visiting them. As a young boy, he liked taking things apart and refixing them; although he was not always successful at this. Wayne liked to play sports and grew up loving his sports on T.V. One time he took his sisters Carol and Karen fishing at a small creek in Dawson Creek, where he caught his first fish. He taught his sisters how to make snares, as he loved to snare rabbits. Wayne loved the outdoors to hunt and fish. He loved chicken hunting. His first chicken shot was a head shot, so Bea decided he was a keeper. He loved to cook and was always in the kitchen cooking for his partner Bea Gauthier. His brother Gary remembers playing hockey at the Pouce Coupe creek and Wayne fell through the ice. Quite often he was told not to do things, but Wayne would talk his sisters into doing the wrong things, that usually ended up getting all of them into trouble. Wayne and Bea met in September 2003 and very surprisingly Wayne moved in three days later. Wayne and Bea were like one, and shared their total love to everyone. They had a great life together and both spent a lot of time hunting and fishing. They spent a lot of time outdoors. Wayne met a lot of friends at Moberly Lake and became family to the Gauthier family very quickly. Wayne will be missed by his family and friends and especially his partner Bea. Wayne was predeceased by his father Alberta Stelmaker. Wayne leaves to mourn his loving wife Bea, mother Alvina Stelmaker, daughters Jessica Regner and LeeAnn Ray Poppe, stepdaughter Starr Gauthier, grandchildren Jhett and Kolt Poppe, sisters Carol (Hal) Bulmer, Gale Peace, and Karen (Jim) Sipma, brothers Gary Stelmaker and Darrell Stelmaker, brothers-in-law Jim Gauthier and Everette Gauthier, sister-in-law Amy Ann Gauthier, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the Saulteau Community Hall, Moberly Lake, B.C. Fr. Alvin Matias officiated. Interment followed in the Lake View Cemetery, Moberly Lake. Very Respectfully Reynars Funeral Home and Crematorium
