Obituary of Kenneth William "Ken" Loewen
Ken Loewen, a longtime resident of Dawson Creek, B.C. passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 in Dawson Creek at the age of 67 years.
Ken or Kenny known to most of us was born on May 2, 1946 in Grande Prairie, Alberta.
Ken was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for approximately 38 years. He was always there before the AA meeting to greet and direct newcomers.
His younger sister Janine remembers Ken playing guitar and singing to her as a young girl and sometimes being joined by their mother on the guitar. Their brother Jim on the guitar and their dad playing the harmonica and all singing good old country songs. Jim was always there to help Ken find work when he was able to and in these later years helping him with his life circumstances.
Some people come into our lives and quickly go, while others become our friends and stay awhile, leaving beautiful footprints on our hearts, and we're never quite the same because we have known them. Ken was that type of person. Even though he didn't realize it, he taught us all a lot and has left us with many memories and many footprints on our hearts.
Thank you Ken for life's lessons you have showed us. Especially to bloom where we are planted.
Ken is predeceased by his parents Fred and Margaret Loewen.
Ken is survived by his siblings Janine Loewen (David Rose), and Jim (Joan) Loewen, nieces; Heather Loewen, Della Shepherd, Jamie (John) Reed, Kristine Shepherd, and nephew Daniel (Nichole) Parker, along with great niece Kaelyn, and great nephew Hudson.
