Obituary of Anthony Louis Fazekas
Tony Fazekas, a long-time resident of Moberly Lake, B.C. passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Moberly Lake at the age of 62 years. Tony immigrated with his family to Canada from England at an early age and spent most of his formative years in Calgary. While still a student, he fondly remembered being a caddy on a Calgary golf course. Standing out for Tony growing up were the wonderful trips he took with his parents and his brother Michael. They often camped, visited the Okanagan, and spent time the mountains.
He was aware of and responsive to many needs of others. Not only was he helpful to neighbours, he was community minded and worked for a while on the Moberly Lake Fire Department and became a director on the Community Forest Board. At home, he enthusiastically gardened and helped in every way.
Tony spent many years working for Canadian Forest Products in Chetwynd.
Tony was a man of several strong personality traits. He was diplomatic, friendly, enjoyed people, hockey, fishing, collecting old tools, crafting from wood, and golfing.
A Prayer Service was held on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 7:00 pm at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Chetwynd, BC.
A Funeral Mass was held on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Fr. Alvin Matias officiated, interment followed in the Tuscoola Mountain Cemetery.
Tony was predeceased by his parents Kathy and Louis Fazekas, and is survived by Mercedes, his loving wife of 30 years, brother Michael (Jody), nephew Deaven (Nicole), and several cousins who live in Calgary.
