The Métis Nation British Columbia has recently learned of the passing of our dear friend and Métis Women’s Representative for the North East Region Ms. Sharon Payou. Sharon passed away on December 31st in her home in Dawson Creek, BC. Sharon was very proud and committed to her work in supporting Métis Women in her community and region within her role as a Regional Métis Women's Representative for the MNBC Ministry of Métis Women. She was devoted to her volunteer work and to her community and Nation. As a MNBC Registered Métis Citizen, Sharon was a very strong and passionate supporter of the MNBC and she will be deeply missed by the Ministry’s Regional Metis Women Representatives, our Board of Directors and staff and the many Métis Citizens she has touched along her travels. On behalf of the MNBC Board of Directors and Staff we will sincerely keep Sharon’s family in thought and prayer throughout this incredibly sad and difficult time.
