Obituary of Vernar Vankoughnett
Vernar Vankoughnett 1927 - 2016 Vernar Vankoughnett resided in Dawson Creek, British Columbia. Vernar was born in Sydenham, Ontario to Edward and Elizabeth Vankoughnett. He was born in the same little house as his wife, just under different windows. Vernar taught his wife, Marion, to cook, she couldn't even boil water. He told us about the first banana cream pie she ever made. Vernar had come home from work and Marion was so excited because she had made supper with dessert. He finished supper and she brought in a pie for dessert with coffee. He cut a piece and ate it. On Sunday, they went to Marion's sister Audrey's house for supper and when Marion saw her banana cream pie, she started to cry. Her sister said, "Marion, what's wrong?" Marion said, "I can't believe he ate it!" By now Vernar was in the kitchen to find out why Marion was crying and she said, "Why didn't you tell me?" He said, "You were so proud of your first pie, I just couldn't." Audrey said, "Well, now I need to know what you are talking about!" Vernar explained that Marion had made him a banana cream pie a few days earlier and it was crust in the pan with two whole bananas. He said, "I just cut the hard chunk and ate it." Vernar and Audrey started laughing and Marion laughed too. Vernar hunted and fished with all the family as much as possible. He was very outgoing and loved dancing and socializing with family and friends. He also loved bowling and playing darts. Vernar passed away at Rotary Manor on January 16, 2016 at the age of 88 years. He will be missed. Always and forever, your children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and even your great-great-grandchildren.
