Obituary of Charles Arthur "Charlie" Miller
Charles "Charlie" Miller, 71, of Chetwynd, British Columbia passed away April 8, 2016. Charles was born January 19, 1945 to Mason and Mildred (nee Groner) Miller. He attended the Coleman Creek School, Grades 1- 8. Charles completed Grade 9 by correspondence. He started working for the National Grain Elevator Company constructing and rebuilding grain elevators. This job took him to Grimshaw, Peace River, Fairview, Rycroft, Claresholm, Innisfail, Carstairs, Barrhead, Taylor and Dawson Creek. Charles was the one sent up to put the top cap on and install the lightning rods. He stayed with the National Grain Company until the work ran out. He also worked for a rancher at the Halfway River for a time. In 1969, he started with Canfor in Chetwynd and finished in 2000, 31 years in total working as a de-barker. Charles was a hard worker with great work ethics, whether on the job or helping family on the farm. Around Chetwynd you could see him walking; he was known as "Mr. Canfor". Charlie enjoyed meeting friends at Tim Hortons, A&W and other restaurants around Chetwynd. Charles was predeceased, by parents Mason and Mildred, and brother-in-law, Bob Southwood. He is survived by sister Ev Southwood, niece Karla MacDiarmid (Derrick) MacKenzie and Kaylynne; brother Stanton (Charlotte); brother Tim (Elaine) nephew Randy (Natalie), Chelsea; niece Wanda Tensen (Robert) Victoria, Mason; brother Nic (Betty), nieces Leah and Andrea as well as many cousins and friends. A memorial service was held Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the Chetwynd Fellowship Baptist Church, Chetwynd, British Columbia. Pastor Bill Evans officiated. Inurnment took place in the Rolla Community Cemetery, Rolla, British Columbia. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Charles, may be made by donation to Mickey's Place, P.O.
