Obituary of John William Desjarlais
John William Desjarlais was born March 14, 1952 in Grande Prairie, Alberta. He was better known as Jay. Jay was adopted by his grandparents Bill and Marceline Desjarlais along with Darlene Campbell, Loretta Calliou, and Darrell Horseman. They lived in Sturgeon Lake at the time than later they moved to little Prairie in 1955 and have been here ever since. Darlene remembers that the family was looking after a sheep farm near Hasler Flats. That was where they started school. There was only three families that attended that school it was a little house with a wood heater and the teachers name was Miss Burns. Than a few years later we moved into town and ended up living in a place called Moccasin Flats.
As Jay grew to be a young man he started working odd jobs here and there; he was a power saw operator, Silviculture worker, Renovating houses for Prince George Metis Housing, and a Laborer for BC Hydro.
In the early 70s Jay met Darlene Williams and they had a baby girl Tracey Mae born in 1972. Tracey had 3 beautiful daughters Alexandra, Keira, and Kia.
Jay moved to Prince George about 15 years ago which he called home. Jay met Maureen Seymour and were best friends.
Jay was predeceased by Mother: Iva, Grandparents: Bill & Marceline, Sisters: Linda, Sandra, Marlene, and Brothers: Richard, Lorne, Frank.
Jay leaves to mourn his Daughter: Tracey, three granddaughters, sisters: Darlene, Purl, and brothers Ernie, Graham, Brian (Loretta & Darrell), other family members that were very close with Jay was Leanne, Oscar, Jennifer.
Rest In Peace, you will be dearly missed Jay but you will always be remembered in our hearts.
