Marian, thank you for letting us know Lawrence passed away. We are very sorry we did not know in time to come to the funeral. This was so nice to be able to watch the service. What a beautiful service. Our deepest condolences to you and the family. It was so nice to hear all the shared memories of your life with Lawrence and we laughed over the grandson's remembrance of how grandpa greeted them at the door. We cried over some others and the songs were so fitting. Our thoughts are with you in the coming days and weeks as you adjust to this huge loss. Hugs from Gordie and me.

So sorry for your loss. Lawrence was a great friend of my late father and in your time in Bassano we enjoyed many hours playing pool in your basement. I would like to share a couple of my many fond memories of Lawrence. I used to have a Yamaha motorcycle which was somewhat powerful for the day and I convinced Lawrence that they were simple to drive. Apparently, to my surprise, Lawrence had never attempted such a feat. After carefull instruction we turned him loose. Much to our surprise he"dumped the clutch" popped a wheelie and fell off the back of the bike. So there he was running along, hands on the bars with the front wheel high in the air, across the yard and crashed into a telephone pole! He came back to all of us laughing and said "I told you I couldn't drive a bike!". Lawrence also taught me (Ed) to witch for water after I told him he was trying to trick me. He told me to grip his hands tight so that I could see that he wasn't cheating. I was gripping his hands so tightly that we twisted the bark off of the willow branch! Then I was convinced and and he showed me the technique. I haven't done it now for years but I speak of it from time to time. I have many more fond memories of him and the Pickett family. Another great man that will be missed. Rest in peace Lawrence
