Her story Shannon Wason passed suddenly on May 6, 2018. She is survived by her children, Joe Wason, Shandon Wason, Alexis Wason, and Shanda Wason. She is also survived by her father Glen Wason, brothers David and Gord Tuscok, and sisters Debbie Anderson, Pat Loschuck, Heather Wason and Shelley Wason. She is precdeceased by her mother Maureen Wason, brother Jeff Wason and sister Charlene Senger. Shannon is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces and many loyal friends who she considered close family. Shannon was born in Edmonton, on April 6, 1969, however the family lived in Castor, Alberta. At age 1 her family moved to Oran, Algeria in northern Africa, for her father's work in the oilfield. In 1972 her family moved back to Castor for a few years and then on to Scotland in July of 1974. They returned to Castor, and then moved on to Grande Prairie in July of 1979. In 1984 her family moved to Fort Nelson. Her siblings live in various places in Alberta and B.C. Shannon stayed in Grande Prairie for many years and moved to Dawson Creek after her mother passed in 1993. She lived in other communities too, including Keg River, but called Dawson Creek home. They say that people live up to their name sake. Shannon was named after the Shannon River, the longest and most powerful river in Ireland. The river was used as a barrier during battles between rival tribes from as far back as 970 AD. Shannon was no stranger to life's struggles and battles and like a strong powerful river, she found her way through and around things. As an infant she contracted red measles and it caused deafness in her right year, but wasn't discovered until she was 11 years old. Her oldest son was born in 1991 with genetic complications causing accelerated growth. Her daughters were born ten months apart. In the last couple years, successive losses of her brother and husband within two days of each other, overwhelmed her in grief and she lived in unfavourable circumstance until her passing. Prior to that she was a school bus driver and held managerial jobs at various places in the community. Shannon loved her children with all her heart and soul and had close family and friends throughout her life. Shannon laughed and made others laugh despite navigating a difficult life. Throughout her life she had a generous heart, was deeply loved by family and friends, and will be dearly missed. She remains alive in our hearts, memories and stories, forever. May she rest in peace always knowing that her family will do their very best to help her children, who are now orphaned, and in need. Please keep them in your prayers. If you wish to help in any way, please contact Shannon's trusted sister who is a school teacher at wason_s@surreyschools.ca. God bless you.
