Obituary of Roy Hudson

Roy Hudson 1936-2018 Roy Charles Hudson, passed away at the age of 82 on June 21, 2018 following a stroke in 2015 and a recent struggle with an aggressive melanoma. He was a resident of Beaverlodge, AB and a former resident of Pouce Coupe BC, Lone Prairie BC, and Grande Cache AB. Roy was born at home on the farm in the Hardendale area near Rocky Mountain House AB on April 4, 1936. At the age of one Roy and his family moved back to the homestead near Pouce Coupe. In 1957 Roy married Dorothy Michalitschka and soon after purchased the family farm from his parents. He continued farming, truck driving and raising his family there on what became Hudson Road (also known as 211 Road), until retiring in 1976 and moving to Lone Prairie. While in Lone Prairie Roy tried his hand at trapping on Della Nicholson's trapline. He also worked for a time at the Canfor Mill in Chetwynd as an oiler where many commented on how the machinery had never before run so smoothly. In 2002 Roy and Dorothy moved to Grande Cache to enjoy this scenic, senior-friendly little town in the Rocky Mountains. In 2012 they moved back to the Peace Country choosing to live in Beaverlodge to be closer to their children where Roy lived for his remaining years. Roy lived life to the fullest enjoying the great outdoors camping, fishing, hunting and trapping. Roy and Dorothy celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on November 30, 2017. Roy is survived by his loving wife Dorothy, daughter Wendy Rowe, sons Lloyd and Boyd Hudson, grandchildren Randy (Holly) Rowe, Dayna (Troy) Evers, Kole Anderson, Lori-Lou Hudson, Anna Hudson & Samantha Hudson, great-grandchildren Kaitlyn, Crawford, Waryk, Brayden, Aldawna, and Taylor. Roy is predeceased by his parents Charles and Anna Hudson, sisters Laura (McDonald) McAllister and Myrtle Goodrich, and brother Floyd Hudson. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 2:00pm at the Bergeron Funeral Chapel. Interment to follow in the Riverview Cemetery, Pouce Coupe, BC.
