Obituary of Eleanor Belfour

Eleanor Louise Belfour 1936-2018 Eleanor, a resident of Dawson Creek her entire life, passed away on November 11, 2018 in Dawson Creek at age 82. Born in Dawson Creek, she was the oldest child of Harold and Lillian Thompson. Eleanor married Robert on November 12, 1954 in Dawson Creek. Two years later their daughter Theresa was born in 1956; then a second daughter - Linda was born in 1959. They also raised a foster son named Clifford. Eleanor's work started later in her life; staying home to raise kids was what you did! Her first start was a job a Trembly Grocery. She was well known to many children the area as the "candy lady." She enjoyed working with the public, and worked also at the Woolworth store and the R- Home Hardware store. Family and friends will tell you, she was quick with the hugs, and would always be available to offer you a cup of tea and her famous cinnamon buns with your visit. She loved to crochet and in her house you would find everything from doilies and swans, to blankets and Christmas ornaments; she tried it all. Grandchildren seem to each have a favourite movie that she watched just with them, and they also each had a special snack they know was created just for them. They will tell you tales of the music they cranked up and danced around the house together! Boney M, Dr. Hook, and Gordon Lightfoot just to name a few. She was predeceased by her husband Robert, parents Harold and Lilian, sister Phylis, and brother Jimmy. Eleanor will be forever cherished by her daughters Theresa Christman and Linda (Ross) Hayward; grandchildren Jason (Caren) Christman, Robert (Cheryl) Hayward, Adam (Kassie) Hayward, and Colleen (Thomas) Burke; and great-grandchildren Chelsea, Liam, Caelyn, Keegan, Brea, and Brooklynn. At Eleanor's request, no funeral services will be held. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Rotary Manor Care Facility, 1121-90 Avenue, Dawson Creek, British Columbia V1G 5A3.
