I was so sad when I came across this obituary. Leo was one of the funniest and kindest people I ever knew. I had never known anyone before who was so committed to his community, Leo was definitely a inspiration to everyone around him. Chetwynd was so lucky to have him and I have many fond memories of Leo so I wanted to send my condolences, not only to Leo's family, but also to the communities of the Peace that Leo had such a wonderful impact on. From Bernice Leduc (VanSickle)

OMG I was just sitting up here late having a few beer and Decided to check obituaries for Chetwynd..i do that every so often, weird, eh? I just saw that my high school teacher, Leo Sabulsky, passed away last month... He was the teacher that we picked on and played practical jokes on.... He like me was Ukrainian He was the teacher that started the radio club that I and him started ...What it was ..playing music over the intercom speakers throughout the high school I have many tell me that when I was up there that I inspired him to get it into radio that led into CHET TV and Radio starting there in Chetwynd Leo was in Search and Rescue in Chetwynd and one of the emergency responders that showed up at my brother’s accident when he died... Leo actually took time to tell me how Dave was found... he said Dave went peacefully and quickly because his femoral artery was cut in his leg which meant he bled to death quickly Leo was the only person that when I ever I see him on my recent visits there that .he still called me EDDY LOL I am literally in tears now... If anyone that is family or any loved ones is reading this now, my deepest sympathies ... actually loved ones are reading this now because Leo was a great guy and loved by us all

My condolences to the family. I taught with Leo from 1981 - 1985. I was shocked to read about his passing when I went on the Chetwynd website. I'll always remember Leo as a happy soul ready to help. He was instrumental in one of our moves in town lending us his truck and his hands. I know he will be missed as he was not one to sit back but delved into life. I'm sure everyone will have lots of great stories to tell and will keep his memory alive.

Condolences to the Sabulsky family for the loss of a much loved husband, father and grandfather. Leo was an unique individual in so many ways. As a teacher, he was able to use his love of agriculture in his teaching of geography and social studies so students will remember him as aspiring teacher. He had a talent working with vulnerable students, and as FN Liaison, he put this talent to great use. He was always thinking about new projects and I enjoyed working with him developing the Forestry course for our students, initiating the local radio station in Chetwynd Secondary and the building of ATEC. These talents also benefited the community with his involvement in the CHET radio and TV, thrift shop, Fireman and other local community endeavors. He was an example to all of us, on how to give back to our communities. Rest in Peace, dear friend. God Bless

Leo was a wonderful man and brilliant teacher. He made every high school class I had with him exceptional in the way only he could. It’s been nearly 30 years and he’s the one I remember. Rest well, Leo.

Leo was an amazing person! I remember him so well from the school system when he was the Liaison Teacher. He was so helpful if a student was having a bad day. I appreciated his low key approach; he cared so much for kids! He was dedicated to so many projects - we will miss you, Leo! Sincere condolences to Janice, his children, and grandchildren!

Leo, was a very kind man, with lots of good intentions. He did a lot for the community of Chetwynd. I remember when I was a casual custodian, And at the same time, I was helping two High school kids, during the day, through Leo, as the aboriginal liaison. Leo offered me the job for the aide person, to help the kids. He said my work was evaluated and I did a good job. That's just the way he was. A helpful, caring man. Go rest high on that mountain Leo, your work on earth is done. Condolences Janice and family.
