I worked with Don at Mahatta River (a Rayonier, and later Western Forest Products) logging operation on northern Vancouver Island for 4 years. Don was indeed great welder, but also a terrific co-worker, and a good friend. Don found humour in the most trying of circumstances, we often worked together at night, in torrential downpours and/or hurricane force winds. He never lost his cool, he would quip "could you restart my heart if I get electrocuted out here?". Then he would laugh and get back to work. A terrific man, who had a terrific life, left us much too soon. Shine on you crazy diamond! Ken

I am so saddened to hear this. Condolences to all friends and family. Don was always a bright spot in my work day in schools over the years. I have many happy memories of him coming up with an awesome solution to a problem or just to take care of something we didn't even realize might be a problem before it became one. He will be greatly missed.
