I found this obituary for Mona Jean and realize now that it is quite late to post a tribute! However Mona Jean had an amazing impact on me and my young family when I was her minister in Toronto in the early 1990's. She was a faithful attendee at church and was dearly loved by many in the congregation. She was quick witted and always smiling. She always had a story to tell, and we weren't always sure whether they were true or not, but most of the time they were! Mona Jean sent gifts to my kids long after she moved to Dawson Creek. Every so often a small parcel would arrive with pencils and dollies and little trinkets. I still have some of these treasures she sent us because there was something so very loving and deep about Mona Jean. She was unfiltered, she loved everybody, she gave away smiles because they were free. I didn't know she lived so long and I'm glad for her, she deserved it. I knew that she would enjoy the retirement homes because they were social and three meals a day would be the tonic she needed. I am happy to know that she was happy.
Dear family of Mona Jean, even though this note is 3 years late, it is no less heartfelt. I remember when you came to Toronto to take her back home. Your love for her was immense. Thanks to you, from the bottom of my heart. One day we will meet Mona Jean again, and won't she be smiling then! Peace for now, Rev John G Smith
