Obituary of Scott Fitzpatrick
With a heavy heart the family of Scott Fitzpatrick, of Dawson Creek, announce his death on October 31,2021. He was 57 years old.
Scotts mother was 5 months pregnant when the family left the Peace country in late 1963. In March of 1964 Scott was born at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC. He then grew up on the Island, including Victoria, Esquimalt and Telegraph Cove. When he was 16 his family moved to Stettler, Alberta and after graduating High School he moved to Edmonton for work. There he met a young Elaine McMillan at a weekly Careers and College group through the church they both attended. They married in 1988 and when Elaine graduated from the U of A with an Education Degree, she took her first teaching job in Dawson Creek in the fall of 1990. Scott had returned home. They intended to stay only 2 years as Scott missed the city and they wanted to be closer to family. That didnt happen, so they settled down and started their own family, welcoming their two sons Mathew and Chris Fitzpatrick in 1994 and 1997 respectively. Scott eventually found he liked the Peace country where he could photograph the landscape, go to the Range at Rileys Crossing and visit with friends and community everywhere he went. He was home here.
Scott contracted Covid just after Thanksgiving. The family appreciates all that Dr. Hargraves and the staff at the DC District Hospital did to try and help him breath and recover. In the end his heart gave out. He urged his family and community to get vaccinated as he knew first hand what the virus did to his body. Please dont let my husbands death be in vain, get the vaccine.
A private Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 1:00pm. A livestream of the service will be made available on this page for anyone not able to attend.
Very Respectfully, Reynars Funeral Home & Crematorium
