This message is for everyone who knew Ray and feels the heartbreak of his passing. I know there are many of us because Ray was someone special. You are the waitresses at Sam’s kitchen and Le’s, you are the ladies at the front desk at the pool and the post office, you are the people at Northern Metallic , Steel shops, welding shop, Equipment operators, gold miners, and all the places that Ray liked to cause trouble. The gold price is down today $2383.91, but the value of Ray’s Ray’s stories has gone up. He was a pioneer with big ideas and so many life experiences . You’ve heard his stories dozens of times, but when he’d tell the same story you may have already heard before, it was as though he was reliving it in the moment. My favourite story of Ray’s was ‶Big Eyed Chick″, the story of a supper invitation in Valleyview not knowing what the hell he was going to be eating.Garter snake and owl of course, the other white meats. Ray always had the coffee on and a stream of visitors stopping by. You’d always know if someone was around for coffee before you if all the candies in the dish on the table were gone. He loved his shop and always had projects on the go. Some days he was out there from morning until night, stopping for nothing except if somebody needed something. He’d stop what he was doing in a heartbeat to help. I hope that when you remember Ray you think of his big smile, his laugh and the last story he told you."
