Obituary of Anita Nielsen
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Anita Nielsen, long-time resident of Farmington, British Columbia, on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at the age of 63 years.
Anita was the second of five daughters born to John and Idelle Bjornoy. She came into this world on June 4, 1959, at the Pouce Coupe Hospital and lived in Chewynd until she was four years old when the family moved to the farm in the Pouce Coupe area.
Anita learned her love of gardening at an early age as each summer many hours were spent weeding and harvesting the huge vegetable garden the family grew. After chores, she enjoyed riding her horse with her sisters. Anita learned to sew in school and that was a talent she used through her life to create many projects to decorate her home or give as gifts. After high school graduation, she moved to Dawson Creek and worked for BC Tel for five years as a telephone operator.
Anita married the love of her life, Flemming Nielsen, in 1982 and together raised their two sons, Drew and Adam, who were her pride and joy. Anita dearly loved children, especially little ones and spent a lot of time at family gatherings holding or talking with her nieces and nephews. They moved to their property on the Old Alaska Highway when Drew was a baby and ran the Alaska Highway RV Park for fourteen years, meeting people from all around the world.
She always had beautiful gardens and enjoyed going out to pick fresh vegetables and herbs to cook wonderful meals.
Anita and Flemming bought a boat and joined the yacht club at Williston Lake where she loved to go on boating trips and catching fish. They also traveled to Kitimat with the boat many springs and fished the waters there. Fishing the ocean was a passion of hers.
Anita was a gentle, kind, loving person who liked helping others and spent a lot of time helping her mom after her dad passed away.
Anita was predeceased by her parents John and Idelle Bjornoy, her parents-in-law Bendt and Inge Nielsen.
She is survived by her husband, Flemming Nielsen, sons Drew (Kristen) Nielsen and Adam (Sarah) Nielsen, sisters Turid (Jim) Giovannini, Joanne (Dave) Moore, Charmaine (Doug) Bergeron, Karen (Brian) Babcock, brother-in-law Carsten (Val) Nielsen, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
For friends so wishing, donations may be made in memory of Anita to the Alzheimers Society of British Columbia, #300 - 828 West 8 Avenue, Vancouver, British Columbia, V5Z 1E2.
Very Respectfully, Reynars Funeral Home & Crematorium
