I have fond memories of visting your farm in Dawson Creek when our family travelled across Canada with a tralier. I would have been in grade seven at the time I think. 1974? Bedford was great friends with my dad Bob Doyle and his wife Isabelle as they grew up with Bedford in Five Islands Nova Scotia. I rememenber them cooking steaks & lobster and my Mom always told me how much Bedford loved her clam chowder. I still remember them laughing in our kitchen. I will look to see if I can find any more old photos to upload. This photo is a fishing trip Dad took with Bedford. I think Bedford is in the middle of the photo. My email is jdoyle@smiledog.ca if you want to send me a note. Mom passed away this year at 89. Dad has been gone since since 2009. He was 77. Born 1931 in Five Islands. Condolences to your family. Jeffrey Doyle.

Thank you for posting this! I love hearing the stories and seeing the pictures. Dad had this picture on a slide and now I know who else was in the photo! Yes Dad was in the middle of the photo and that is a lot of fish!

I had the pleasure of working with BZ at the Dawson Creek and District Hospital in 1977-79 and returned as Head Nurse of Surgery/Peds in 1983-84. Such a pleasant and knowledgeable man, very kind to not only his patients, the other medical professionals but all the staff, from nurses to housekeepers. So many good memories, my condolences to the family. PK

Dr. Alward delivered our first two children. I loved that he was soft spoken and so caring. He had a way of tending to the whole family when unexpected events happened. He was very kind and greatly loved and appreciated. His obituary is certainly a testament to a very good life! Ardith White

My deepest condolences to Dr Aylward’s family. He literally touched so many lives in the community, and Dawson Creek was so lucky to have such a wonderful doctor for so many years. His kind, gentle and compassionate nature was always evident to his patients, and he will be missed by all of those who had the good fortune to have known him. May the many wonderful memories you have of treasured moments together bring you comfort in the days ahead. Thinking of you…

Rest in Peace Dr. Aylward, you were a great doctor. Always full of kindness and patience where your clients were concerned. You always took time to stop at their homes and see how they were even after they were discharged from the hospital, and also when admitted to Long term care. Even after you 'supposedly' retired, you still came in to inquire about them. You were always kind to the healthcare staff and as a young inexperienced nurse, you treated me with respect and, of course, I won't forget your sense of humor. It was obvious you had a passion that was rare in your practice. To those of you that didn't know him, you have truly missed out on a great man. To his family, I'm so sorry for your loss.
