Obituary of Carmella Faye Victoria Maga

Carmella Maga, beloved grandmother, mother, sister, partner, and friend, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at the age of 71. Born on August 26, 1952, in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan, Carmella was a cherished daughter of Peter and Alice Maga.

From a young age, Carmella's adventurous, kind, and nurturing spirit shone brightly. She dreamed of becoming a model and was described as cute as a doll when she was little. She had no fear and when young she could often be found swinging through the barn rafters or jumping around on the bale stacks. As she got older, she was always there to lend a helping hand, especially when it came to caring for her nieces and nephews. And she was always there to tell amazing stories to friends and extended family.

Professionally, Carmella was a dedicated bookkeeper and administrator, bringing her strong work ethic and organizational skills to various roles throughout her career. However, throughout her life, Carmella was particularly driven by her passion for serving others. She dedicated countless hours to volunteering in her communities, with particular pride in her involvement in the Canadian Cancer Society, organizing community Emergency Services Christmas dinners and serving as a member of Citizens on Patrol in Fort Nelson. Additionally, she brought comfort and companionship to the elderly in Dawson Creek through her selfless work. In 2015, Carmella was honored as Volunteer of the Year in Fort Nelson, a testament to her dedication to making a difference in the lives of others.

Carmella's warmth and generosity endeared her to all who knew her. She was a pillar of support to her children, Heather Maga and Jared Thorvaldson, and cherished her relationships with her siblings Frank Maga, Shirley Crowdis, Debbie Bruyere, and Jim Maga. Her grandchildren, Julia (daughter of Heather) and Kade & Ella (children of Jared and his wife Kandis), brought her immense joy and pride.

Known for her strength, sassiness, love of shopping and ever-changing hair color, Carmella approached life with a sense of adventure and style. Her bold spirit and willingness to share her opinions and advice will be missed and remembered fondly by those who knew her.

Carmella will be deeply missed by her children, grand-children, siblings, nieces & nephews, her partner Randy Swain, her dear friend Michelle Carson, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
